Market report: good signs for the future

In 2024, the Italian window and door handle market faced significant challenges, influenced by the contraction of the residential sector and the reduction of tax incentives. However, the nonresidential segment showed positive signs, supported by new construction and public procurement.

According to the UNICMI 2024 Report, the market for metal windows and doors, which includes handles, grew by 4.5 percent, reaching an estimated value of 2.6 billion euros. In particular, aluminum windows and doors saw a 1.4 percent increase, thanks to their competitiveness in the premium segment and sustained demand in the nonresidential segment.

On the other hand, the residential segment contracted by 2.9 percent, mainly due to the exhaustion of renovation tax incentives. This especially hurt PVC windows and doors, which declined by 2.6 percent.

Despite these difficulties, the industry has shown resilience. A survey conducted by Cosmoserr and Mikaline Research revealed that 74 percent of industry players expect stability or growth in revenues in 2025, while only 26 percent expect a decrease.

Emerging trends in handle design include the adoption of environmentally friendly materials and ergonomic designs, meeting the growing demand for sustainable and functional solutions.

In summary, 2024 was a year of transition for the Italian window and door handle market.

Despite the challenges, the sector has demonstrated adaptability and innovation, laying the groundwork for a recovery in 2025.
